School Based Mentoring

A volunteer provides mentoring for children experiencing academic related difficulties.

Objectives of the School Based Mentoring program include

Improve the school attendance of the children in the program
Improve the grades of the children in the program
Improve the attitudes of the children in the program
Improve the self-image and self-worth of the children in the program
Improve the school behavior of the children in the program

Mentors are a very important part of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fairfield County, and we need volunteers no matter how much or how little time they can commit. Our mentors bring social and emotional support to our youngsters through "hands on" mentoring.

The School Based Mentoring program serves children between the ages of six to sixteen from single parent households, children placed in foster care or children living with grandparents. Presently, we have over 30 children who are eligible for this program.
