The One-To-One Mentoring (aka Traditional), matches adult volunteers, known
as a Big Brother or Big Sister, to a child, known as a Little Brother or Little
Sister, with the expectation that a caring and supportive relationship will
develop. Hence, the match between volunteer and child is the most
important component of the intervention.
Equally important is the support of that match by ongoing supervision and monitoring of the match relationship by a professional staff member. The professional staff member selects, matches, monitors and closes the relationship with the Big and Little. Constant communication between the professional staff member, Big, Little and the parent/guardian is crucial to the long term success of the match relationship.
The Traditional program serves children between the ages of six to sixteen
from single parent households, children placed in foster care or children living
with grandparents. Presently, we have over 50 Big/Little matches and over
30 children on the waiting list.
If you are interested in this program please check out our Become a Big page or if you are interested in registering a child please check out Become a Little.
